On Friday, May 26, 2000, members of the Burke County Narcotics Task Force assisted North Carolina Probation and Parole in searching the residence of Christopher Michael Messick, 20, of 5827-A Willow Point Drive, Morganton. An unknown pill was located at the residence and was sent to the State Bureau of Investigation laboratory in Asheville for further analysis.

The analysis revealed the pill to be Methylenedioxymethamphetamine, a Schedule One controlled substance commonly referred to on the street as "ecstasy."

A warrant was issued for Messick's arrest and he was taken into custody at his residence without incident. He was detained at the Burke County Jail under a $15,000.00 secured bond and awaits a first appearance on June 6.
