| Armed Robbery Reported in Connelly
Springs |
| |
| Two men are in the Burke Catawba District
Confinement Facility after allegedly robbing a Connelly Springs man with a
plastic toy firearm. |
| |
| On January 8th, Dock Hommer Hoyle of 8090 Hoyle
Farm Road, Connelly Springs called the Burke County Sheriff's Office from a
Highway 18 South convenience store to report the robbery. |
| |
| When officers arrived, Hoyle reported he went to
the intersection of Highway 18S and Prysock Avenue to meet with another person.
When he arrived, two unknown persons approached his vehicle and opened the
door. One suspect pointed a firearm at Hoyle and demanded his
wallet. |
| |
| According to Hoyle, the suspects attempted to
pull him from his vehicle, but Hoyle sped away to the convenience store, where
he called authorities. |
| |
| With the assistance of local residents,
investigators were able to secure the names two suspects, Shanika Latosha
Michaux, 21, of 415 Stonewall Square Apt. D17, Lenoir; and Stephen Christopher
Williams, 25, of 6582 Maple Grove Avenue in Connelly Springs. After an
unsuccessful initial attempt to locate the two, the suspects later contacted
authorities and were arrested. |
| |
| It was determined that Michaux and Williams
attempted to rob Hoyle with a plastic gun, according to Detective Stacy Buff of
the Sheriff's Office. |
| |
| Michaux and Williams were charged with attempted
robbery with a dangerous weapon and jailed in the Burke Catawba District
Confinement Facility under $25,000 bonds. A first court appearance is set for
January 10th. |
