Sparks Arrested for Shooting into Residence

Det. Tom Rhyne reports the arrest of a man for allegedly firing a 12 gauge shotgun into the residence of a Hickory man.

On January 14th, Roy Lee Sparks went to Lot #4 on Cathryn Lane in Hickory and discharged a shot through the front window of Jimmy Dean Ryder's home, according to Rhyne. The shot went through the ceiling of Ryder's living room.

The house was occupied at the time by Ryder, Pam Sparks and her two teenage sons, Rhyne stated. He advised the shooting was the result of a "longtime disagreement."

Roy Sparks was charged with one count of shooting into an occupied dwelling and placed in the Burke County Jail under a $25,000 secured bond. He has a first appearance in Burke County District Court on January 17th.

Assistance in this case was provided to the Burke County Sheriff's Office by Longview Police Department.
