Hale Facing Drug Charges

The Burke County Narcotics Task Force, along with Morganton Department of Public Safety officers and K-9 "Boyke", arrested a 43-year-old Morganton man on January 18th for possession with intent to sell and deliver crack cocaine.

Ronald Erwin Hale of 1568 Silvers Street was approached by officers acting on a tip as he sat behind the wheel of his vehicle, which was parked at 401 Vine Arden Street.

Hale exited the vehicle and put a pill bottle inside his jacket pocket, according to officers. He was confronted by police and allegedly stated, "This is all I have." A search of the pill bottle yielded what appeared to be two rocks of crack cocaine.

A search of Hale and his vehicle resulted in several items of drug paraphernalia being confiscated, as well as some currency.

Additional charges are pending against Hale, who had a first court appearance on January 19th after being placed under a $10,000 secured bond.
