| Bethel
Road Convenience Store Robbed |
| |
| An armed robbery was reported by the Colonel's
Pantry on Bethel Road early Sunday morning. |
| |
| Detective David Warlick said a white man entered
the business around 2:30 a.m. and pointed a long barreled black revolver at the
clerk. After demanding money, the man reportedly disabled the telephone line
from a fax machine and removed the cash drawer from the register which
contained around $30. |
| |
| The man exited the front door and ran around the
east side of the building, the clerk reported to Warlick. |
| |
| Warlick said a Sheriff's Office K-9 dog tracked
the suspect's scent to a field approximately 75 yards south of the store, where
tire track evidence was located. The evidence indicated the vehicle left on
Drexel Road toward Morganton. |
| |
| The clerk described the suspect as being around
6' tall with dark brown eyes. He wore a black long sleeved shirt, black pants,
white tennis shoes and a black hood which revealed only the eye
area. |
| |
| Warlick stated there are no suspects as the
investigation continues. |
