Disturbance Call Leads to Drug Arrest

Deputies answering a call for service in Connelly Springs was the catalyst in a drug arrest Thursday afternoon.

Officers responded to 2820 Coldwater Street after receiving a disturbance call, and their investigation yielded information that drugs were in the home occupied by Margaret Cornette Nichols (left).

Officers searched the home and seized a quantity of methamphetamine, according to reports.

Nichols, 42, was arrested and taken to the Sheriff's Office, where the case was turned over to the Burke County Narcotics Task Force. Her arrest is one of several this month for possessing methamphetamine, commonly referred to on the street as "crank" or "meth."

Nichols was placed under a $1,000 secured bond after being served a warrant for felonious possession of methamphetamine. She will have a first court appearance on April 1st.
