Woman Charged with Selling "Ecstasy"

A Newton woman was arrested March 27th in connection with selling and delivering the designer drug "ecstasy," according to members of the Burke County Narcotics Task Force.

Makisha Abbington Lutz, 20, of 422 East L Street, Newton, reportedly had forty dosages of the drug in her possession at the time of her arrest, along with an undisclosed amount of cash.

After further investigation, detectives with the Task Force contacted Newton Police Department investigators for assistance in a search of Lutz' home. The search yielded twenty-three additional dosages of ecstasy, which were discovered in an Aquafina water bottle with a hidden compartment, according to reports.

Lutz is facing charges in both Burke and Catawba County for possession with intent to sell and deliver the drug. She has a first court appearance in Burke County on April 1st and is under a $25,000 secured bond.
