Another Burke/Alexander Case Leads to Arrests

Another drug case involving Burke and Alexander County officers and the N.C. State Bureau of Investigation has led to the arrest of a 41-year-old Taylorsville man.

Charles Leon Moose III (right), of 120 Davidson Court in Taylorsville was arrested Tuesday during a drug transaction at an undisclosed Morganton motel.

Officers reportedly seized approximately half an ounce of methamphetamine and ten ounces of cocaine powder, which has a total value of approximately $30,000. Also seized was a vehicle, a handgun and $10,600 in currency.

According to a news release by the Burke County Narcotics Task Force, a related search was later conducted in Alexander County, where a stolen vehicle was located. Moose is facing additional charges, detectives said, and other suspects are expected to be arrested in this case.

Moose was charged with trafficking in controlled substances (cocaine) and possession with intent to sell and deliver amphetamine. He was jailed under a $25,000 bond and will have a first court appearance on April 12th.

Moose's arrest is the third in a recent joint investigation by Burke and Alexander County officers. Last week, authorities made two other drug arrests in a separate case which began in Burke.
