Two Teens Arrested for Stealing Golf Cart

Two teenagers were arrested Tuesday after a man reportedly found them on his son's stolen golf cart and detained them until officers arrived.

Detectives later charged Joshua Dean Morris (left), 16, of 314 Randolph Street, Morganton; and a fourteen-year-old juvenile who's name is being withheld because of his age. The two are charged with felonious larceny and felonious possession of stolen goods.

Henry Eugene Deal of 3271 Dorinda Deal Drive told officers Tuesday the golf cart had been stolen from a wooded area near his residence.

A short time later, one of Deal's neighbors reportedly called Deal and told him they had spotted two teens riding the golf cart in an area off Crawley Higgins Road and Connelly Road.

Deputies responded and began searching the area. Several hours later, Deal's father spotted the suspects and detained them until deputies arrived.

The golf cart, valued at $1,500, had sustained minor damage and was returned to Deal, authorities said.

Joshua Morris will have a first court appearance on Friday after being placed under a $2,000 secured bond. The case against the fourteen-year-old will be heard in Burke County Juvenile Court on a future date.
