Charged in Early Morning Assault |

A 30-year-old Morganton man
has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury
after an early morning fight with another man.
Officers responded to
2284 Hidden Pines Drive at 3:45 this morning for a reported disturbance at the
home of Bruce Allen Clark. Arrested was Michael Dean Causby (right), of 2981
Clark Loop, Morganton. Causby is accused of striking Clark in the head with an
undisclosed item from the home. |

| Clark reportedly refused medical treatment,
according to a detective, although his injuries were described as
serious. The detective did not state a motive for the assault. |

| Causby was placed in the Burke Catawba District
Confinement Facility under a $25,000 secured bond and will have a first court
appearance on May 6th. |
