Two men were arrested Wednesday at a license checkpoint after officers discovered controlled substances inside their vehicle.

The Burke County Sheriff's Office Traffic Interdiction Unit was conducting the checkpoint at the intersection of Old 18 and Duckworth Circle when they encountered a vehicle occupied by Dominic Perham, 29; and William Hlobil, 59.

The officers located marijuana, marijuana seeds, "Miracle Grow," and a pistol inside Perham's vehicle.

The Burke County Narcotics Task Force was contacted and a search was made of Perham and Hlobil's residence, located at 4931 Heavenly Lane, Morganton. Investigators reportedly located additional marijuana, seeds, and marijuana plants.

Perham and Hlobil were charged with felonious manufacturing of marijuana and maintaining a place for controlled substances. Both men were placed under a $3,000 secured bond and will have a first court appearance today.
