| Man
Arrested; Charged with Numerous B&E's |
| |
A citizen listening to a
scanner assisted law enforcement officers in making an arrest of a suspect
wanted for numerous burglaries.
An area broadcast went out Friday
advising officers to be on the lookout for Joseph Dwayne Hudson (right), 19. After hearing Hudson's description, a
Caldwell County resident reportedly contacted the Burke County Sheriff's Office
and told officials Hudson was living nearby. |
 |
|
| Hudson was apprehended at 5321 Gristmill Lane in
Granite Falls by the Caldwell County Sheriff's Office and turned over to
Valdese Police Department, who had several outstanding warrants against
him. |
| |
| As of May 28, the Burke County Sheriff's Office
had received several reports of break-ins to residences and vehicles in the
Rutherford College, Valdese and Drexel areas in which Hudson became a suspect,
according to investigators. Hudson is alleged to have stolen items which
included computers, cameras, stereos, cash, playstations and games, jewelry,
and compact discs. |
| |
| Detectives attempted to locate Hudson at 301
Fletcher Street in Morganton, but were unsuccessful in arresting him until
Friday. |
| |
| Upon further investigation, investigators with
the Burke County Sheriff's Office issued warrants on Hudson for breaking,
entering and larceny. Hudson was later turned over to Morganton Department of
Public Safety detectives for service of outstanding warrants held by their
agency. |
| |
| In addition to the breaking, entering and
larceny warrants, Hudson is charged with four counts of obtaining property by
false pretenses, and failure to appear in court. He is currently in the Burke
Catawba District Confinement Facility under a $28,000 secured bond and will
have a first court appearance today. |
| |
| Agencies involved in this investigation include
the Burke County Sheriff's Office; Valdese Police Department; Drexel Police
Department; Morganton Department of Public Safety; and the Caldwell County
Sheriff's Office. |
