Man Charged for Video Poker Game Violations

A 63-year-old Morganton man is facing charges as detectives cracked down on alleged video poker machine violations last week.

Detectives issued a criminal summons on Thomas Tyson Conner of 5488 Mount Olive Church Road, Morganton after reportedly discovering violations of the video poker law on July 12th at "Country Cousins," a business owned by Conner.

Acting on a tip, detectives entered the business and found the machines hidden in a back room. According to one detective, the plain view section of the video poker law states the video machines must be visible upon entering the premises.

The machines and an undisclosed amount of money were seized. Conner, who reportedly was not in town at the time of the seizure, will have a court date for July 26th.

Assisting the Burke County Sheriff's Office in this case was the Burke County Narcotics Task Force.
