Bonnie Butler Christie contacted the Sheriff's
Office at 11:27 p.m. last Thursday to report a break-in at her 4049 Highway 64
South residence near Morganton. Christie reportedly told authorities her
roommate, Edris Salameh was detaining the burglar at
gunpoint. Investigators said Salameh is the owner of the home.
Sheriff's deputies arrived to find Salameh holding a gun on Troy David
Whisnant (right), 27, of 5504 Fish Hatchery Road,
Morganton. Whisnant was taken into custody by deputies. |
| |
| Christie told deputies she saw another man run
from the rear of the residence and through the woods toward Jenkins Road after
she called 911. Deputies searched the area but did not locate the second
suspect. Detectives responded and through investigation learned the second
man allegedly involved in the break-in was Adams. |
| |
| Adams was returned to Burke County to face
breaking, entering and larceny charges along with felonious possession of
stolen goods. He was placed in the Burke Catawba District Confinement Facility
under a $10,000 secured bond and had a first court appearance earlier
today. |
