New Year Begins with Reported Stabbing

Investigators rang in the new year by arresting a Connelly Springs man after he allegedly stabbed another man Wednesday.

Deputies were called to Grace Hospital in reference to a stabbing in which William Michael Huffman, 30, was being treated for wounds to his lower torso. Investigators were told Huffman was stabbed by Jody Robert Morrison (right), 32, of 5202 Old Highway 18 South.

The incident reportedly occurred at Huffman's residence on Laurel Creek Avenue. Huffman was allegedly stabbed after attempting to stop Morrison from driving after he (Morrison) had been drinking.

Morrison was later arrested by officers after a domestic argument with his wife shortly after the stabbing. He was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious bodily injury and jailed at the Burke Catawba District Confinement Facility.

Huffman remains in stable condition at Grace Hospital. Morrison's bond was set at $100,000 and he has a first court appearance Friday.
