Footprints in the Snow Lead to Arrest

Seventeen-year-old Travis Eugene Aldridge probably no longer cares for snowy weather.

Detectives say a trail in the snow from the scene of a burglary to his residence is what led to his arrest today.

The home of Shelia Monn at 3273 Idlewild Acres was reported broken into on January 17th. Several items were reported stolen.

Deputies found a door to Monn's home had been damaged, and footprints were visible in the snow. A deputy and investigator followed the tracks to Aldridge's residence. Aldridge's address is listed as 2285 Eastway Avenue, Morganton.

An investigation established Aldridge as the prime suspect and warrants were issued charging him with felonious breaking, entering and larceny, and possession of stolen goods. A large amount of the property from Monn's house was recovered and returned to the victim, detectives said.

Aldridge was arrested while walking along Bryant Road in Drexel today. He was placed in the Burke Catawba District Confinement Facility under a $5,000 secured bond and will have a first court appearance on Friday.
