Arrest Made on Liberty Church Road |

A search warrant
executed at an eastern Burke County home today resulted in the arrest of a
Hickory man on drug charges.
Frank David Smith (right), 44, of 4239 Liberty Church Road, Hickory was
charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana at the
conclusion of the raid. Additional charges are pending in the investigation,
according to detectives. |

Officers with the
Burke County Narcotics Task Force and Burke County Animal Control Division
searched the residence and seized marijuana, cocaine, drug paraphernalia and
currency, according to reports.
With the keen nose of Officer Canine
"Rusty" (left), a Jack Russell Terrier recently purchased by the Task Force,
officers located the controlled substances and other items throughout the
house, said an investigator who was on the scene. |

| Smith was placed under a $3,000 secured bond and
will have a first court appearance on Friday. |
