| The Burke County Narcotics Task Force reports
the arrests of two eastern Burke County men in separate drug busts last
week. |
| |
| On April 9th, the Task Force and detectives from
the Burke County Sheriff's Office acted on a tip that Mark Anthony Slemp, 25,
of 1945 Tucker Street, Connelly Springs was in possession of controlled
substances. |
| |
| Officers reportedly located cocaine, heroin and
drug paraphernalia during a search of Slemp's residence. Slemp was charged
with possessing the drugs and placed under a $10,000 secured bond with a first
court appearance on April 10th. Additional charges are pending, a detective
said. |

| On April 10th, the Task Force arrested Allen
Wayne Phillips II, 32, of 4543 Miller Bridge Road, Connelly Springs for
felonious possession of cocaine. |
| |
| Phillips' arrest was made pursuant to a vehicle
stop after officers reportedly observed him making traffic violations. A search
of the vehicle resulted in the confiscation of cocaine and other drug
paraphernalia, according to officials. |

| Phillips was placed under a $10,000 secured bond
and had a first court appearance on April 11th. Additional charges are pending,
according to a Task Force news release. |
