Detectives Solve Two Recent Armed Robberies

Justin D. Harriman

Danny C. Wilburn

Two men have been arrested for armed robberies in Burke County, and authorities say their crime spree stretched as far as Charlotte.

Justin Dean Harriman, 23, of 3131 Faith Temple Church Road Lot #3, Morganton, and Danny Charles Wilburn, 24, of 3131 Faith Temple Church Road Lot #6, Morganton both face two charges of robbery with a dangerous weapon in Burke County.

The men are accused of robbing Austin's #2 Convenience Store, located at the intersection of Zion and Amherst Road, on April 2nd. They are also charged with the April 7th armed robbery at Vasser's Food Mart on Highway 64 South.

The robbers got away with an undisclosed amount of money from both stores, according to detectives.

Investigators developed Harriman and Wilburn as suspects in the case and went to speak with them at a mobile home park on Faith Temple Church Road near Glen Alpine. As the detectives approached, Wilburn reportedly fled on foot.

Harriman was located inside his home, and officers with the Burke County Sheriff's Office and Morganton Department of Public Safety apprehended Wilburn a short time later on Highway 70 near Glen Alpine.

Wilburn was in possession of a handgun at the time of his arrest, a detective said.

Both men are responsible for a robbery at Big Daddy's Convenience Store in Morganton, according to investigators. Charges are forthcoming in that case.

Investigators stated the men are responsible for a robbery occurring in Charlotte approximately two weeks ago. Authorities in Mecklenburg County are investigating.

Harriman and Wilburn are also suspects in a residential breaking and entering and car break-in occurring several weeks ago, though investigators did not disclose where the incidents occurred.

Both men were jailed under a $75,000 secured bond and will have a first court appearance on April 23rd.
