| Morris
Charged With Another B&E&L |
| |
 |
For the second
time this year, a seventeen-year-old is facing felony breaking, entering and
larceny charges after he was apprehended by a citizen.
Joshua Dean
Morris (left) of 314 Randolph Street is charged
with the burglary of Teresa Puett's home, located at 4700 McDowell Church
Road.
Harrell Bruce Powell and Nicky Rhoney reportedly pulled into
Puett's driveway on May |
8th around 3:21 p.m. and saw a bicycle at the residence
which did not belong there. |
| |
| As the two approached the home, they saw a male,
later identified as Morris, running from the back of the house and into the
woods. The two men discovered Puett's residence had been burglarized. |
| |
| Powell returned to his vehicle and spotted
Morris approximately ten minutes later walking on Mount Olive Church Road,
investigators said. Powell reportedly armed himself with a tire iron and
approached the suspect. |
| |
| Authorities said Powell ordered Morris to
empty his pockets and several items of jewelry belonging to Puett were found in
his possession. Powell reportedly took possession of the items and allowed
Morris to leave the area on his bicycle. |
| |
| The Burke County Sheriff's Office was later
notified of the incident after more jewelry than was allegedly found in Morris'
possession was discovered missing. |
| |
| Investigators later charged Morris with
B&E&L and placed him in the Burke Catawba District Confinement Facility
under a $5,000 bond, with a first court appearance scheduled for May
16th. |
| |
| Morris, who reportedly is on probation, was
charged in January with
three other break-ins which occurred in August and December of
2002. He and a juvenile were
also charged in May,
2002 with the theft of a golf cart. |
