Three people have
been arrested after officers with the Burke County Narcotics Task Force went to
an eastern Burke residence to discuss possible drug activity and found
themselves in the middle of a drug transaction.
The officers were
reportedly sold a prescription of 20 milligrams (fifty-six dosages) of
Oxycontin from the three suspects, who apparently didn't bother to look at the
badge one officer was wearing. |
|
| The Task Force investigators allege Elva Lynn
Martin Stowe, 44, of 8957 Bridges Avenue, Connelly Springs attempted to sell
them the prescription, apparently not noticing the unconcealed badge around the
detective's neck. |
| |
| Stowe and Larry Eugene Brittain, 56, of 1751 7th
Avenue NW, Hickory were charged with conspiracy to traffic in opiates. Isaac
Ussery, 66, of 835 7th Ave., Hickory was charged with trafficking in opiates
and possession with intent to sell and deliver opiates. |
| |
| Bond for Stowe and Brittain was set at $20,000,
and Ussery's bond was set at $25,000. The trio will make their first court
appearances on Monday. |
