Investigators with the Burke County Sheriff's Office have charged a 22-year-old Morganton man with the May 21st burglary of a Salem convenience store.

Detectives allege Davis Carroll Mayfield (left), of 212 Barbour Drive broke out a front window at Garrison's Store and crawled through bars on the front door of the business. A press release stated approximately $2,000 was taken from the store.

Mayfield was arrested at a mobile home park on Walker Road after a two-day investigation. He was charged with breaking, entering and larceny, and possession of stolen goods.

Mayfield was jailed under a $25,000 secured bond and has a first court appearance on Wednesday.
