Duo Wanted in $400,000 Larceny Caught in Arkansas

Donald G. Solesby, Jr.

Rhonda L. Seagle

A man and woman wanted in connection with the August 4th larceny of approximately $400,000 in cash were captured in Crawford County, Arkansas early this morning.

Donald Gary Solesby, Jr., 41, who also is known as Gary Owens, and Rhonda Louise Seagle, 39, were captured by the Van Buren Police Department as officers responded to a domestic squabble at the Kings Way Inn, a local motel.

Officers in Van Buren found a large amount of currency in the pair's possession, according to Burke County detectives.

Solesby and Seagle were being sought by Burke investigators for the theft of a safe belonging to Leonard Walker of 5873 Lot 6 Jenkins Road in Morganton. The safe, which allegedly contained approximately $400,000 in cash, was stolen as Walker slept, Burke Detective Robert Beall said.

Most of the money reported stolen from Walker was recovered, according to Beall.

Solesby and Seagle remain in custody in Arkansas without bond awaiting an extradition hearing back to North Carolina.
