| Man
Finds Intruder in Home; Snipes Charged |
| |
 |
A 30-year-old Connelly
Springs man, arrested
earlier this year for a string of burglaries, finds himself in more trouble
after reportedly being caught inside a western Burke home by the
owner.
According to authorities, Ronald Phifer Carswell of 5068 Fish
Hatchery Road, Morganton came home New Years Day and discovered Terry Lynn
Snipes (left) inside his house holding a .50
calibre muzzle loader firearm. |
|
| Carswell was able to get the gun away from
Snipes, according to Burke County Detective Becky Brendle. Snipes then ran
from the home and stole Carswell's 1987 Dodge Truck, Brendle said. |
| |
| Carswell called the Sheriff's Office at 9:06
a.m. and reported the incident. |
| |
| Lt. Banks Hinceman responded to the burglary
call and spotted Carswell's truck on Highway 181 while en route, Brendle
stated. Hinceman pursued the vehicle and stopped it near the intersection of
Bowman Road, where Snipes was arrested without incident. |
| |
| Snipes was charged with breaking, entering and
larceny, larceny of a firearm, and larceny of a motor vehicle. He was jailed
under a $75,000 secured bond and will have a first court appearance
today. |
