Lenoir Man Stable in Early Morning Shooting

Authorities with the Sheriff's Office have arrested a 61-year-old man for allegedly shooting another man during an early Monday morning argument.

Det. Chris Marsh charged William Wayne Logan (left) of 3846 Piney Road, Morganton with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill after deputies arrived at Logan's home to find Thomas Jeffery Edminsten, 21, lying in the yard suffering from a gunshot wound to the back.

According to Marsh, Edminsten had been at Logan's home on Sunday afternoon and some type of argument took place. Edminsten reportedly left the home only to return around 2:00 a.m., where another argument between the two men occurred, which resulted in Edminsten being shot once in the back by a small calibre weapon.

Edminsten was taken to Grace Hospital and later transferred to Memorial-St. Joseph's Mission Hospital in Asheville, where his condition is listed as stable.

Logan was placed in the Burke Catawba District Confinement Facility under a $10,000 secured bond and had a first court appearance Monday.
