Family Offers Reward in Missing Person Case

The family of a Morganton man, reported missing on December 23, 2003, is offering a $1,500 reward to anyone who can provide valid information which leads to him being found.

The reward will also be granted to anyone providing valid information about any individuals who may be responsible for Orders' disappearance, according to a Burke County Sheriff's Office press release.

Detectives with Burke County say they have had few useful leads in the disappearance of Jackie Edward Orders (right), 40, of 1794 Canoe Creek Way. The investigators stated they have spent countless hours tracking rumors and false leads.

Orders reportedly was scheduled to leave Burke County late last year to visit family members in Georgia, but never arrived.

According to detectives, Orders failed to take essential items one would normally take if they were planning to be away from home for any length of time.

Orders is described as being 5'9" and 170 pounds. His hair is brown and his eyes are green. He is described as being fair-skinned. Orders worked as a pipe fitter prior to his disappearance.

Anyone with information concerning the disappearance of Jackie Edward Orders may call the Burke County Sheriff's Office at (828) 438-5500, or Burke County Crimestoppers at (828) 437-3333. The identity of the person providing information will be kept anonymous.
