| Two
Arrested for ATM Demolition; Pharmacy Robbery |

| Burke County Sheriff's Office detectives
arrested two men today and charged them with last week's demolition of an
automated teller machine in eastern Burke County. The pair was also charged on
June 23rd with the robbery of a Hildebran drug store. |

| Virgil Odell Lail, 44, of 7280 Crafton Farm
Road, Hickory, and Henry Edward Shell, 47, of 5211 Tom Smith Avenue, Connelly
Springs are accused of stealing a tractor trailer and ramming it into an ATM
"Cash Points" machine on June 22nd. The ATM is located in the parking lot of
the KFC restaurant in Hildebran. |

| An investigation into the stolen truck and
inspection of the ATM machine led to Lail and Shell being developed as
suspects, a detective stated. |

| The men were previously charged with robbery and
kidnaping at East Burke Pharmacy. Detectives said the men demanded prescription
drugs from an employee, and also physically forced a clerk to the floor during
the robbery. |

| The men were charged today with felony larceny
and injury to personal property in the ATM incident. They were given $10,000
bonds in addition to the $100,000 bonds they are under for the kidnaping and
robbery charges. |

| The men will have a first court appearance on
July 6th in Burke County District Court. |
