Another "Crank" Drug Bust Made

A Morganton Department of Public Safety officer stopped a truck for speeding Tuesday, but hit paydirt when he reportedly found drugs inside the vehicle during a search.

Officer J.D. Cooper stopped the truck near the intersection of Tennessee and East Union Street, according to reports, and asked Timothy Dwayne Walker (right), 33, of 7560 Pheasant Road, Vale, if he would consent to a search of the vehicle.

Walker reportedly gave his consent and Cooper located a quantity of methamphetamine, also known as "crank," along with marijuana and other drug paraphernalia.

Walker was arrested and his truck, a 1998 Ford, was seized by the Burke County Narcotics Task Force after their investigators were called to the scene.

Walker was charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver methamphetamine. He was placed under a $15,000 secured bond and will have a first court appearance today.
