| Man Has
Throat Cut; Three Charged |

Three people were charged early this morning in connection
with cutting a man's throat during an argument in eastern Burke
County.
William Michael Downs, 33, of 6543 Gold Creek Drive, Connelly
Springs underwent emergency surgery to repair his neck after being transported
to Grace Hospital by Burke County EMS. He was admitted to the hospital, where
he is listed in stable condition. |

| The Sheriff's Office received the stabbing call
at 8:40 p.m. on Saturday night. |

| Charged in the incident with assault with a
deadly weapon with intent to kill and inflicting serious injury was Reggie
Allen Day, 25, of 7987 Stillwell Hill Road, Hickory. He was jailed under a
$50,000 secured bond. |

| Also charged with felonious aiding and abetting
were Tara Lynn Francis, 25, of 3632 Lot #3 Ridge Court, Morganton, and Nichole
Lea Waters, 32, of 3731 Curley's Fish Camp Road, Connelly Springs. Bond on both
women was set at $25,000. |

| No other details of the incident were made
available. Additional charges are pending on all three suspects. |
