Charged in Meth Lab Bust |
| |
 |
Burke County
Narcotics Task Force officers busted a 51-year-old Morganton man Wednesday
after reportedly discovering a methamphetamine laboratory at his
residence.
The officers were at the 3956 Lot 2 Pritchard Drive,
Morganton residence to arrest Bobby Dean Michaels (left) on a grand jury indictment for drug charges related
to methamphetamines. A search of the residence after his arrest yielded the
meth lab discovery. |
|
| The North Carolina State Bureau of
Investigation's Clandestine Lab Team reported to the scene and assisted with
the clean up of the drug-making materials. Meth labs are considered extremely
dangerous by experts, since the drug-producing chemicals can readily explode or
produce toxic fumes. |
| |
| Investigators reportedly found different items
of drug paraphernalia, in addition to a quantity of finished
methamphetamine. |
| |
| Michaels was jailed under a $35,000 secured bond
and will have a first court appearance today. He was charged with possession
with intent to sell and deliver methamphetamine, felony possession of meth,
possession of drug paraphernalia, maintaining a dwelling for controlled
substances, and manufacturing meth. Other arrests are pending. |
| |
| Assisting the Burke County Task Force and NCSBI
were officers from the Burke County Sheriff's Office, Burke County EMS, and
West End Volunteer Fire Department. |
