Arrested in Counterfeit Bill Case |
| |
 |
An ongoing
investigation of counterfeit bills being passed at local businesses resulted in
the arrest of a Morganton man on Friday. Investigators say they located sheets
of counterfeit bills during a search of the man's residence.
Deputies
arrested Joshua Lane Ellis (left), 23, of 1328
Old N.C. Highway 18, Morganton on unrelated warrants of failure to appear or
comply. Ellis was arrested after he reportedly drove past the
residence. |
|
| According to reports, deputies stopped the
vehicle and arrested Ellis on the outstanding warrants, then returned with him
to Old Highway 18 residence. |
| |
| Ellis was later charged with uttering a forged
instrument, a $100 bill at a local business. Detectives said they expect to
arrest more individuals in the near future. |
| |
| Ellis will have a first court appearance today
and is currently in the Burke Catawba District Confinement Facility under a
$19,000 bond. |
