Sigmon Arrested for Drugs Second Time in 3 Weeks

A 34-year-old man was arrested at a local motel on December 28th for possession of cocaine with intent to sell and deliver.

Steven Wilson Sigmon (right), of 120 D Lowman Street also faces additional charges of resisting arrest and obstructing an officer.

Sigmon was charged for cocaine possession with intent to sell and deliver only three weeks earlier, on December 7th, according to Burke County Narcotics Task Force investigators.

Task Force detectives and officers with the Morganton Department of Public Safety went to the motel after receiving information about suspicious activity coming from one of the rooms, an investigator said.

As officers searched the room in question, Sigmon and another male arrived, according to reports.

One of the Task Force officers attempted to frisk Sigmon for weapons, and an altercation began, the investigator said. Sigmon was subdued and arrested by officers, and the Task Force officer was taken to Grace Hospital, where he was treated and released for a shoulder injury.

Officers located cocaine and other drug paraphernalia during the search, the investigator stated.

Sigmon had a first court appearance on December 29th after being jailed on a $25,000 secured bond.
