Three men have been arrested in connection with at least nine break-ins to residences in Burke County, the Sheriff's Office reports. The burglaries occurred in January and February, 2005, according to investigators.

Jason A. McNeal, 21, of 1363 Airport Rhodhiss Road Lot 1, Hickory; William Ernest Smith, Jr., 32, of 2461 Settlemyre Lail Road, Rhodhiss; and
Sonny Carvin Hefner, 22, of 7880 Shoupe's Grove Church Road L-6, Hickory are all facing charges of felonious breaking, entering and larceny, and possession of stolen goods, according to Det. Sgt. Becky Brendle.

"We have connected them to at least nine home invasions in eastern Burke County," Brendle said. "The estimated value of property taken from these break-ins is around $50,000."

Warrants were issued in connection with a few of the break-ins, and the men were arrested. Indictments from a Burke County Grand Jury will be sought at a later date, according to investigators.
