Cantrell Arrested for Selling Prescription Drugs

Investigators with the Burke County Narcotics Task Force arrested a 42-year-old Morganton man yesterday, charging him with selling drugs from his Suburban Drive residence.

Detectives charged James Burrell Cantrell (left) of 1726 Suburban Drive Lot #17 with four counts of possession with intent to sell and deliver a schedule II drug, and one count of possession with intent to sell a schedule IV drug.

A narcotics investigator said the Task Force received a tip on February 22nd concerning suspicious activity occurring at Cantrell's residence. Officers conducted a search and reportedly found oxycontin, methadone, percocet and xanax, which they say was being sold from the residence.

Cantrell was not arrested on that date, but was arrested yesterday after further investigation by the Task Force. Further charges and arrests are pending, according to investigators.

Cantrell was jailed under a $10,000 secured bond and will have a first court appearance today.
