Highway Patrol Stop Leads to Drug Charges

Burke County Narcotics Task Force officers have charged a 17-year-old Hickory teen with possession with intent to sell and deliver crack cocaine, after a traffic stop on March 10th initiated by the North Carolina Highway Patrol.

Harold Marquis Wilfong (left) of 318 3rd Avenue SE is also charged with driving without a license, simple possession of marijuana and underage drinking, according to the Task Force.

Wilfong's vehicle was stopped on Hickory Airport Road by a state trooper, a report said. The vehicle was searched after his arrest and five grams of crack cocaine was found under the front passenger seat, according to a Task Force member.

The investigator said that additional charges and arrests in the case are expected.

Wilfong was placed under a $3,000 secured bond and had a first court appearance on Friday.
