Window Tint Violation Leads to Drug Charge

A Hickory man was jailed on drug charges Tuesday, after a Morganton Department Public Safety officer stopped his vehicle for a window tinting violation.

The Burke County Narcotics Task Force entered the case after PSO J. D. Cooper stopped Christopher David Towery (right), 23, of 7136 Griffin Road, Hickory. During the stop, officers reportedly recovered a 9 mm handgun, cocaine, marijuana, and a sum of currency.

Towery was taken into custody without incident, according to a Burke County Narcotics Task Force press release. He was charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine. Additional charges are pending, stated an investigator.

Towery was jailed on a $5,000 secured bond and will have a first court appearance today.
