Drug Arrests Made in Multi-Agency Operation

Law enforcement officers, armed with true bill of indictment warrants, invaded the homes of several suspected drug dealers early Monday morning and made numerous arrests.
 
Officers with the Burke County Narcotics Task Force, Burke County Sheriff's Office, Valdese Police Department, and Morganton Department of Public Safety met at the Sheriff's Office at 6 AM on April 18th to begin making plans for the surprise round-up.
 
The following arrests were made during the operation: 
 
  • Angela Marie Brown, 40, of 1761 NC 126, Morganton, charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, and selling cocaine;
  • Larry Cicero Brown, 48, of 1385 Cube Drive, Valdese, charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia;
  • Johnny Chasengnou, 18, of 104 Ramsey Street, Morganton, charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, sell and delivery of marijuana, possession of a schedule II controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia;
  • Christopher Allen Deal, 20, of 323 Lovelady Road, Connelly Springs, charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, conspiracy to possess with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia;
  • Calvin Ross Mauldin, 43, of 3821 Owens Mountain Avenue, Connelly Springs, charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia;
  • Stacy Winkler Morgan, 42, of 956 Airport Rhodhiss Road, Hickory, charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia;
  • Eddie Larke Pearson, 66, of 847 Vine Arden Road, Morganton, charged with manufacturing marijuana, felony possession of marijuana, habitual drug offender, and possession of drug paraphernalia;
  • Sheacola Larertha Dixon Reid, 22, of 107 Hollar Street, Drexel, charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia;
  • Alberto Hernandez Soto, 43, of 3556 East Homestead Lane, Morganton, charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine;
  • Paul Earl Weaver, 66, of 4160 Whitener Drive, Hickory, charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana;
  • Demethra Carlos Williams, 28, of 114 Mills Street, Glen Alpine, charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, possession of cocaine, and possession of drug paraphernalia;
  • Melisa Patton Williams, 33, of 5556 White Oaks Drive, Morganton, charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, possession of cocaine, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
 
A $10,000 secured bond was set on each defendant, with the exception of Demethra and Melisa Williams, who had bonds set at $5,000, and Eddie Pearson who received a custody release.
 
A trial date of May 23rd was set for all of the defendants. 
 
According to investigators, the round-up was one of a series of on-going joint operations involving officers from different Burke County law enforcement agencies.
