Notice of Edward Byrne "JAG" Grant |

| The Burke County Sheriff's Office was recently
notified that they are eligible to receive $10,144 in funding, through the
federal Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance (JAG) Grant Program.

| The Sheriff's Office proposes to use the grant
to partially fund a communications repeater in the Jonas Ridge section of Burke
County. The repeater should increase two-way radio communication abilities with
deputies who are in the Jonas Ridge area, and their telecommunicators stationed
at the Sheriff's Office in Morganton. |

| The grant application can be viewed on the
public bulletin board at the Sheriff's Office, which is located at 150
Government Drive, Morganton. |
