Charged with Shooting Man in Foot |

A shooting
last night off Piedmont Road has landed a 41-year-old man behind bars, charged
with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.
Detectives
with the Burke County Sheriff's Office say Ray Eugene Barlow (left) of 5855 Piedmont Road shot David Glenn Childers,
37, of 2861 Brown Mountain Beach Road in the left foot after a dispute over a
woman. |

| The shooting was reported to authorities at 7:32
PM on July 4th. |

| Deputies and a detective arrived at the scene
and Barlow was identified as the shooter, reports state. He was arrested
several hours later. |

| According to the detective, Barlow and Childers
had been having an ongoing dispute over a woman they both had been in a
relationship with over the past year. |

| On Monday night, Childers allegedly parked at
Oak Hill Fire Station 2 across from Barlow's residence and demanded to speak
with the woman, who was residing with Barlow. |

| Shortly afterwards, Barlow fired a shot that
struck Childers in the foot, the detective said. Childers was transported to
Grace Hospital for treatment. |

| Barlow was placed under a $3,000 secured bond
and has a first court appearance tomorrow. |
