Suspect Caught in the Act of Break-In

Deputies arrived at the scene of a breaking and entering in progress call on August 12th, reportedly just in time to catch a suspect emerging from the residence.

Arrested and charged with breaking into the 107 Collingwood Drive, Morganton home of Nell Kimbrell was Adam Travis Gravely (left), 22, of 1706 Old NC 18. Officers reportedly found a screwdriver and a roll of coins in the waist line of Gravely's clothes.

The Sheriff's Office received a call at approximately 5:51 PM Friday, advising that a burglary was occurring.

After the deputies arrived and took Gravely into custody, they searched the residence and found significant damage to the back door, according to investigators.

Kimbrell, who was not home at the time of the break-in, reportedly later told officers that she knew Gravely, but stated he did not have permission to be at her residence. She also confirmed that the damage to her back door had not been there previously.

Gravely was charged with breaking, entering and larceny and placed under a $5,000 bond, with a first court appearance this week.
