| Man
Charged with Bringing Drugs to Inmate Son |
| |
 |
Investigators
with the Burke County Narcotics Task Force, along with Foothills Correctional
Institution officers, charged a man Saturday with possession with intent to
sell and deliver marijuana.
Ernest Eli Cook, Jr. (left), 57, of 7642 Deboe Road, Summerfield, N.C. is in the
Burke Catawba District Confinement Facility under a $25,000 bond. He is accused
of bringing the drugs into Foothills Correctional Institute to deliver to his
son. |
|
| The son, Ernest Eli Cook, III is serving a five
year and seven months sentence at Foothills for robbery with a dangerous
weapon. He was convicted in a Guilford County courtroom last
November. |
| |
| According to a Task Force investigator,
Foothills authorities received information that the elder Cook would be
bringing drugs to the institution on Saturday. They confronted the man upon his
arrival and arrested him with the marijuana. |
| |
| In addition to the possession charge, Cook is
also charged with possession of a controlled substance inside a jail or
prison. |
| |
| Charges are also pending against the son, the
investigator said. |
| |
| Also assisting in the case was the Burke County
Sheriff's Office. |
