Arrested for B&E's After Traffic Accident |
| |
 |
Burke County
Sheriff's Office detectives have charged a 20-year-old with breaking, entering
and larceny after he was reportedly caught in the act by a homeowner. The
B&E was reported on Tuesday.
According to reports, Mildred Lafevers
arrived at her home on Drexel Road and startled the burglar, who jumped into
his vehicle and tried to drive away. |
|
| The burglar reportedly backed his vehicle into
the highway and struck another vehicle traveling Drexel Road at the time, then
drove away from the scene. |
| |
| Lafevers gave Deputy Scott Grasse the tag number
of the vehicle, the report stated. Grasse contacted officers with the North
Carolina State Highway Patrol concerning the hit and run, and the suspect,
Michael Phillip Taylor (pictured above, left) and
his vehicle were located at Taylor's 1703 Bethel Road home. |
| |
| Detectives interviewed Taylor at the Sheriff's
Office and cleared up at least two separate investigations, Det. Rodney Norman
stated. |
| |
| In addition to the B&E charges, Taylor was
charged with felonious possession of stolen goods. He remains in the Burke
County Jail under a $25,000 secured bond and has a first court appearance
today. |
