Officers
acting on a search warrant say they discovered a large indoor marijuana growing
operation Monday afternoon.
According to a Burke County Narcotics Task
Force press release, Robert Colyer Short (right),
33, of 4347 Faith Fork, Connelly Springs, was arrested when officers entered
the mobile home in the Pine Mountain Lakes area and made the
discovery. |
 |
|
| The search and arrest of Short was the climax of
a joint investigation conducted by the Catawba County Narcotics Division and
Burke County Narcotics Task Force. |
| |
| Investigators from Catawba and Burke's
respective drug agencies, assisted by the Burke County Sheriff's Office and the
Sheriff's Office S.W.A.T. team, reportedly located three rooms inside the
mobile home containing grow lights, numerous pots containing marijuana plants,
potting soil and watering devices. |
| |
| 120 plants were discovered which have a street
value of approximately $200,000, according to one detective. |
| |
| Short and another person found inside the home
were subdued by the S.W.A.T. team without incident. The second person has not
been charged; however additional charges in this case are pending, said one
Task Force investigator. |
| |
| Short was jailed under a $25,000 secured bond
and will have a first court appearance tomorrow in Burke County District
Court. |
