| Clark Charged with Rape of Child, Burglary |

A 22-year-old Morganton
man was charged this morning with the sexual assault of a nine-year-old
female.
According to Burke County investigators, deputies were called to
the Timberline Drive residence Tuesday night. The child's father reportedly
arrived home around 9 PM and was told by his daughter that a man came into her
bedroom that night and sexually assaulted her. |

arrest of Joshua Newton Clark (above,
right) of 951 NC 18-US Highway 64, Morganton. |

| Clark was charged with first degree burglary,
first degree rape of a child, and first degree sexual offense on a child. His
bond was set at $100,000 and he will have a first court appearance this
morning. |
