| Hardin Arrested for Twice Burglarizing Store |

An 18-year-old is in jail,
charged with breaking into a store two times within a three-day
period.
Burke County investigators charged David Lee Hardin (left), of 2351 Lail Road, Morganton on Tuesday with two
counts of breaking, entering and larceny, and two counts of possessing stolen
goods.
Hardin will have a first court appearance this morning in Burke
County District Court. |

| According to reports, Steve Morgan of Morgan's
Trading Post, located on Highway 18 North, contacted the Sheriff's Office on
May 2nd after discovering his business had been burglarized during the
night. |

| Morgan contacted the Sheriff's Office again on
May 5th to report another burglary. As in the previous break-in, the suspect
broke out the front door glass and entered, stealing an undisclosed amount of
money from the business. |

| Detectives developed a suspect, described as a
white male who frequented the store while driving a burgundy colored car with a
temporary license plate. The license tag number was traced to Hardin. |

| On Wednesday, detectives learned the suspect
vehicle was on Little John's Church Road in Caldwell County. |
| |
| Caldwell County deputies assisted Burke
investigators in locating the vehicle, and Hardin reportedly arrived while the
officers checked the car. He was arrested after being identified by Morgan and
confessing to the crimes, according to detectives. |

| Hardin remains in the Burke Catawba District
Confinement Facility under a $20,000 bond. |
