Vanhorn Violates Order, Arrested for Kidnapping

An estranged husband, served last July with a domestic violence process ordering him to stay away from his wife, was jailed Tuesday for allegedly kidnapping the woman.

The Burke County Sheriff's Office received a call that J.D. Elliott Vanhorn, Jr. (right), 26, of 5660 George Hildebran School Road, Connelly Springs had forced his wife, Tanya into a vehicle near Hwy. 70 and 3rd. St. SW in Hildebran.

The caller gave investigators a description of the vehicle, which was spotted a short time later by deputies on Johnson Bridge Road.

The deputies stopped the vehicle, and Vanhorn was taken into custody as his estranged wife escaped the vehicle, an investigator said.

Vanhorn was taken to the Sheriff's Office and questioned, then booked for first degree kidnapping and violation of a domestic violence order. His bond was set at $75,000.

During a first court appearance Wednesday, a judge increased the man's bond to $85,000. He remains in the Burke County Jail.
