Burke County Narcotics
Task Force investigators said they discovered a mushroom growing operation on
Thursday at the home of a man they were arresting on grand jury
indictments.
Officers went to the 210 South Center Street, Hildebran
residence of Kyle Brandon Moore (left), 21, to
serve drug indictments for conspiracy, possession with intent to sell and
deliver marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and for being a |
habitual drug offender. The indictments stem from a
January 18, 2005 case. |
| |
| When officers entered
the residence to arrest Moore on Thursday, they reportedly found marijuana and
drug paraphernalia in the living room. |
| |
| A further search of the
residence revealed the psilocybin mushrooms, which investigators said were in
their early growth stage. |
| |
| Moore was jailed under a
$25,000 bond on the indictments. He was served a warrant on the new charge of
manufacturing mushrooms, which are listed as a schedule I drug. The new charge
carried an additional $25,000 bond. |
| |
| Additional arrests and
charges are pending, detectives said. |
| |
| Moore had a first court
appearance Friday on the mushroom charge, and is scheduled for trial on the
drug indictments on September 25th. |
| |
| The Burke County
Sheriff's Office assisted in the case. |
