| Detectives Catch Man in Stolen
Truck After Chase |

Sheriff's investigators
doing surveillance in the Dysartsville section of Burke County found themselves
in a chase with a box truck Tuesday morning.
The truck was later found
to be stolen from Icard, and the driver was arrested a short time after running
into the woods. |

| Detectives John Huffman
and Chad Biddix reportedly were on Gold Mine Road around 11:30 AM when
they spotted the white box truck pulling out from a residence in a reckless
manner. |

| The detectives activated
their blue lights and siren, but the truck would not pull over, a report
stated. The chase entered into McDowell County, and ended a short time later
when the truck went down a private drive and into a field. The driver ran into
the woods, according to the detectives. |

Officers with the McDowell
County Sheriff's Office and North Carolina State Highway Patrol, along with
Department of Corrections K-9 units, assisted the Burke detectives with a
search of the area.
The driver was located in the woods a short time
later. |

He was identified as
Robert Camara Harris (right), 30, of 7322 Advent
Road, Morganton.
Harris has a lengthy arrest record which includes
breaking and entering, larceny, possessing stolen property, drug-related
charges, and assault on a female, according to the computerized records system
of the Burke County Sheriff's Office.
Harris reportedly confessed to
stealing the truck the |

previous night from a residence on Owens Mountain Rd.
in Icard. |

| Harris was charged with
felonious larceny of a motor vehicle, felonious possession of a stolen vehicle,
and felony speeding to elude arrest. |

| He was jailed under a
$10,000 secured bond and will have a first court appearance today. |
