Man Arrested for Stealing Copper

On April 14, 2007, the Burke County Sheriff's Office received a report of a large amount of copper stolen from a business located in Hildebran.

Atilano De Jesus Guzman, 31, right, of Salisbury, was arrested on April 16, 2007 for felony larceny and possession of stolen goods.

On April 16, 2007, the business from which the copper was stolen, called the Sheriff's Office and advised that the suspect was currently at their location in Hildebran.
 
Detectives with the Sheriff's Office responded to the scene and found Atilano De Jesus Guzman in possession of the $12,000.00 worth of copper that had been taken from the business. The copper was located in Guzman's van.
 
Mr. Guzman was arrested for felony larceny and possession of stolen goods and placed in the Burke Catawba Detention Facility under a $3,000.00 secured bond. First court appearance is set for April 18, 2007.
