Caught in the Act and Held at Gunpoint

Neil Bowen Watts, 26, and Jessica Ann McDaniel, 25, both of 3235 Crawley Higgins Avenue, have been charged with felony larceny and felony possession of stolen goods.

On Wednesday, July 11th, at approximately 7:13 pm, the Burke County Sheriff's Office received a call from Williams Lumber Company, located at 3351 Crawley Higgins Avenue in reference to a larceny.

Deputies arrived on the scene and spoke with the owner of the business, David Williams. Williams was reportedly holding the two subjects at gun point. Williams reported that he caught the two stealing wire from his business. He stated this was the second time within the past two weeks he had wire stolen.

An investigator with the Burke County Narcotics Task Force arrived on scene to assist, and informed the deputies that he had been to the suspect's residence last week and had seen a large amount of wire in their back yard.

Mr. Williams was then taken to the suspect's residence, where he reportedly identified the property that had been stolen from his business last week.

Both Watts and McDaniel were arrested and placed under a $5,000.00 secured bond and will have their first court appearance on July 13, 2007.
